10 gorgeous Scandinavian interiors to inspire

Photo: via Home Designing

Scandinavian home décor is one of the most popular interior design styles. It focuses on simplicity, functionality, and minimalistic designs. Originating from the Nordic countries of Europe, Scandinavian (or ‘Scandi’) interiors promote cosiness, calm, warmth, and the lifestyle concept of ‘Hygge’ coming from Denmark. Over the years, this style has crossed continents and has become a very popular interior design choice. So, how can you recreate it at home?

One of the main features of Scandi interiors is a minimalistic approach. You will want to declutter and organise your home in order to create a bright and airy space. Another feature is layered textures. Combine natural materials such as wool, sheepskin, rattan, linen or jute for added cosiness and warmth. Scandinavian homes also include light wood such as oak, beech or pine. Lastly, the colour palette is usually towards neutral and muted tones with pops of colour as accents such as deep greens, blues or warm tans as a way to remind of the outdoors and connect with nature.

If this interior design style sounds like you, don’t worry. It is easy and affordable to bring some Nordic vibes into your home. There is no need to travel all the way to Sweden or Denmark to have a feel the Scandi style, here are 10 beautiful Scandinavian interiors we love to give you inspiration. Love this Scandinavian interior. It’s minimalist and eclectic at the same time, with a touch of contemporary style from the furniture and art work. The white walls and light flooring could appear cold and uninviting at first, but the colourful furniture and accessories bring the right amount of energy, life, personality and warmth to the space.

2/ Playful living

I love an open-plan living space, and this one is absolutely beautiful. It is painted in a monochrome colour scheme using a lot of white and pale greys. However, a lot of warmth is added by the black accent colour, the timber floorboards, the multitude of cushions and the combination of textures such as wood, linen, wool and fur. Overall, the space is rustic and contemporary, warm and unviting. A great family home.

4/ Modern Scandinavian kitchen

This space is also using a monochrome colour scheme with white walls and ceilings, and pale timber flooring. The tall windows and sheer curtains let all the natural light in, which is one of the key features of Scandinavian design. Warmth and cosiness are added by the wooden furniture and layered textures. Overall, a simple, minimalist, functional and cosy interior.

This Scandinavian open space has a touch of modern and industrial style. The black used on the windows, stairs, couch and chairs create contrast with the flooring and pale grey walls. The room is very bright thanks to the tall windows letting a lot of natural light in. Warmth is added by the various textures and fabrics used such as velvet, wool, wood and leather.
