Scandinavian interior design is one of my favourites. I love its simplicity, functionality and the minimalistic side. This style is represented by uncluttered spaces in neutral colour schemes with layered textures and light timber creating a lot of cosiness, warmth and peacefulness.

When wanting to create a Scandinavian interior, you should keep in mind minimalism and cosy space. Your focus should be on using neutral colours (such as white, cream, grey or beige) as well as warm natural fabrics like wool, sheepskin, linen or jute. Your window treatments should also be kept to a minimum in order to let as much natural light in as possible. If you can, opt for sheer or lightweight curtains. Keep your home uncluttered and organised to create a relaxing, cosy and bright space.

When shopping for Scandinavian home décor, our favourite stop is of course Ikea. I have always loved Ikea as it offers a very wide range of products at affordable prices. Some might say their quality is questionable but I personally have never had any problems. I find them to be good quality products for the price and Ikea is just a great place to furnish your home when on a tight budget.

Overall, creating a Scandinavian interior can be affordable and easy. You can start by simply switching some of your home décor elements, adding a new throw blanket or changing your cushion covers. Here is our selection of under $100 Scandinavian home décor.

Our favourites from Ikea

This selection of some of our favourite Scandinavian home décor from Ikea consists mostly of elements in neutral colours, mainly shades of white and beige. The fabrics and materials will guarantee a cozy and warm interior where you can relax and unwind.

More of our selection

Here are more pieces of furniture and home décor items we love to create the perfect Scandinavian interior. With smaller elements, don’t hesitate to add bold colours and prints to add more contrast and create a more dynamic interior with visual interest. Having a neutral colour scheme will give you the opportunity to bring some colour with your accessories.
